Diane Lunn, a cherished member of the Slave Lake community, passed away on July 2, 2023, in Slave Lake, Alberta at the age of 65. She was born in Edmonton on October 14, 1957, to loving parents Fritz and Gudrun Kuschnereit. She grew up as Diane Kuschnereit on South Whidbey Island.
Diane dedicated a significant portion of her life to serving others as a unit clerk at the Slave Lake Hospital. After many dedicated years of service, she retired in 2022, leaving behind an indelible impact on her colleagues and patients alike. Her compassionate nature and unwavering commitment to providing crucial care earned her the nickname “Lady Di” from the hospital staff.
As much as Diane enjoyed her profession, she found solace and joy in tending to her beautiful flower gardens. The vibrant colors and fragrant blossoms brought tranquility to her life and served as a reflection of her own warm and nurturing spirit. Diane’s profound love for animals manifested in her affectionate bond with her two cherished cats. Their companionship provided her comfort and brought immense joy to her daily life.
Family meant the world to Diane, and she treasured every moment spent with her children and grandchildren. Her daughter, Heather Bilsky (Lee Bilsky), and her son, Jeff Lunn (Tamara Nehring), were constant sources of pride and joy. Diane’s three beloved grandchildren, Kylie, Clair, and Lucas, were the light of her life, and she delighted in their presence.
During her lifetime, Diane cultivated a spirit of adventure and wanderlust. She loved to travel, seeking the beauty and diversity that the world had to offer. Whether it was discovering new cultures or embracing the splendor of nature, Diane embraced every journey with an open heart and an unwavering curiosity.
Diane will be deeply missed by her husband, Jim, for whom she was not just a life partner but a source of unconditional love and support. Her siblings, Monika Glassford , Fred Kuschnereit, and Peter Wolf, will forever cherish the countless memories they shared with Diane, finding solace in the close bond they cultivated throughout the years. Diane Lunn’s departure has left an irreplaceable void in the lives of her family, friends, and all who knew her. May her vibrant spirit and the love she shared continue to guide and inspire us in our own lives.
