Donna Joyce Reed, 76, a 20-year resident of Whidbey Island, died July 19, 2005 at Whidbey General Hospital.
Mrs. Reed was born Oct. 20, 1928, in Alameda, Calif. She moved to Spokane with her family as a small child, and then later to Los Angeles, where she graduated from Horace Mann High School. On Aug. 21, 1946, she married Dale Paul Reed on The Bride and Groom radio program in Los Angeles. They lived in Los Angeles, Upland and Pomona for a number of years before moving to Paradise, Calif. They later moved to Snohomish, and then to Whidbey Island in 1985, coming to Coupeville in 1990. Donna was a member of the Greenbank Artists. She had a passion for oil painting and sold a number of her works of art. She also enjoyed making quilts. Her biggest “hobby,” however, was her four boys.
Donna is survived by her four sons, Danny Paul Reed and wife Diane of Skyforest, Calif., David Preston Reed and wife Susan of Vashon, Dana Patrick Reed and wife Debra of Monroe, and Darryl Parker Reed and wife Cathy of Lake Forest Park; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; also, one sister, Joan Holst of Chico, Calif.
A private family gathering will be held. Memorials may be made to the Whidbey General Foundation, P.O. Box 641, Coupeville, WA 98239.
