Dorothy Peardon Randall

Dorothy Peardon Randall died peacefully July 3, 2004, surrounded by her loving family. Her last few days were spent in Whidbey General Hospital where she was suffering from an extended illness. Dorothy was born Nov. 12, 1920, in Vancouver, B.C. She was the daughter of Stanley and Dorothy Nightingale, relatives of the famous English nurse, Florence Nightingale.

Mrs. Randall was a lover of nature. It was her idea to use half-barrels as planters for floral displays in downtown Coupeville. For many years she planted and tended the flowers, even carrying water from her home during the growing season. Dorothy was one of the original Lionesses and worked on Lions Club blood drives.

Dorothy is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Rodney M. Randall, a retired test pilot for the Boeing Corporation. The couple have three children, Judy Fitzgerald of Bend, Ore.; Jim Randall of Mesa, Ariz.; and Steve Randall of Lewellen, Neb. Also surviving are son-in-law Joe Fitzgerald of Bend, Ore.; daughters-in-law Ann Randall of Mesa, Ariz., and Mary Randall of Lewellen, Neb.; and 10 grandchildren. Dorothy has two surviving sisters, Joan Pfeifer of Oregon and Patricia Tatarian of California. She will be sorely missed by her constant and loving companion, her little dog Chuey.

Rev. Hobart Hildyard will conduct a memorial service Saturday, July 10, at 2 p.m., in the sanctuary of Coupeville United Methodist Church where Dorothy was a longtime member. A reception will follow in Fellowship Hall.

The family suggests that anyone wishing to do so may make a memorial donation to Coupeville Lions or to WAIF, PO Box 1108, Coupeville, 98239-1108.
