Duane Scott Rindal, 56, passed away suddenly July 20, 2010, at Harborview Medical Center surrounded by family. He was born Dec. 21, 1953 in Mount Vernon, Wash., to Arne and Phyllis (Erickson) Rindal. Duane grew up on a farm in Conway, the youngest of four children.
Duane graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1972.
In 1974 he married his high school sweetheart Kimmie Thompson; they have raised six children in Mount Vernon where they have made their home. Duane worked at John Deere as a mechanic for 37 years and considered all of them his family. He loved to mow lawns in his spare time, build, and spend his time with his family.
His father, Arne Rindal, precedes him in death. He is survived by his wife, Kimmie of 36 years; children, Joshua (Megan) Rindal of Spokane, Sarah (Jason) Hendrickson of Mount Vernon, Rachel (Nicholas) Stuart of Burlington, Rebecca (Caleb) Woolman of Mount Vernon, Katie Rindal and fiancé Jacob Sutton of Sedro-Woolley, and Jacob Rindal of Mount Vernon; and his seven grandchildren, Chloe, Ashlee, Taylor, Evi, Caden, Cole and Tavin. He is also survived by his mother Phyllis Benson, his sister Kathleen Ellingsen of Mount Vernon and brothers Dr. Steven (Dorothy) Rindal and Dr. Jeffery (Teresa) Rindal, both of Mount Vernon.
Papa will be missed more then words can describe by family, friends and everyone that knew him. A celebration of Duane’s life was held July 24 at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Mount Vernon. Donations may be made at US Bank in Mount Vernon. Arrangements are under the care of Kern Funeral Home of Mount Vernon.
