Edith Jorgensen Reed

Edith Jorgensen Reed, 88, a resident of Oak Harbor, passed away Nov. 22, 2006.

Edith was proud to be a “West Seattle Girl” and showed her flair for journalism as editor of her high school newspaper. She was a creative person, both in business and artful pursuits.

In 1941, she married Erling O. Reed and together in 1957 they opened Erling Reed Realtors where she served as co-broker until retirement. Widowed in 1995, Edith renewed her love of art through poetry, writing and illustration. As a calligrapher, she illustrated her own work, along with the works of a fellow West Seattle High School classmate. Her works and final book can be found gracing the walls and coffee tables of family and friends.

She was the beloved mother of three children: daughter Janice Logg, Bisbee, Ariz.; sons Fredric (Tana) Reed, Mercer Island and Richard (Patricia) Reed, Freeland. She was grandmother to Ryan Reed, Morgan Hill, Calif.; Jason (Melissa) Reed, Bremerton; Darby Reed, Seattle; and Trevor Reed, Mercer Island.

Edith will be remembered for her generous heart and compassion for those in need. Her immediate family gathered together on Dec. 3 for a memorial celebration.
