Edward John Daloisio died peacefully at home on Dec. 27, 2011. He was preceded in death by his wife Wilma and his son, James “Jimmers.”
Ed was born June 8, 1925, in Niles, Ohio to James and Mary Daloisio. As a boy of 15, Ed joined the Civilian Conservation Corps and fought fires in Utah. After his time in the CCC he joined the U.S. Navy and served for 23 years, retiring with the rank of Aviation Ordnance 1st Class. Upon Navy retirement he, his wife, and son settled in Ferndale. He then took a position at Intalco Refinery, finishing his career as a millwright. Ed had a huge smile and a generous heart. He welcomed everyone who came through the door as family. Ed had a grateful, positive attitude throughout his life. He was most appreciative for his caregivers whom he called “Little Eddie’s Angels.”
In his words: “I have had a great life. I had a wonderful wife, a beautiful son, and all you angels around me. This is the sugar at the bottom of the cup. If heaven isn’t like this, I don’t want to go.”
Ed is survived by his sister-in-law Bonnie Bump, niece Julie Sanchez, and nephews “Beaners” Bump, Tom Daloisio, Frank Daloisio and Vince Daloisio.
A graveside service with full military honors will be held at Enterprise Cemetery in Ferndale on Friday, Jan. 27 at 2 p.m. You may share memories with the family at www.westfordfuneralhome.com.
