Edward J. Lamey died July 3, 2008 in the presence of family and friends at the McKinley North Whidbey Adult Family Home. Ed was born in St. Louis, Mo., on July 28, 1915 and moved to Oak Harbor in 2002.
Ed enlisted in the Army during World War II at the age of 26 to defend the country that he loved. He received numerous awards including five Bronze Campaign Stars for participation in the invasion of Normandy, Northern France, Central Europe, the Ardennes and the Rhineland. When the war ended, he returned to his wife Marcella in St. Louis.
Ed will be greatly missed for his subtle sense of humor and gentlemanly ways by all that knew him. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Marcella. Ed was the dear father, father-in-law, and grandfather of Suzanne Lamey and Steve Markle, Chris and Linda Lamey and Lauren Lamey. A military service will be held in St. Louis. Arrangements entrusted to Burley Funeral Chapel, Oak Harbor.
