Our beloved mother, Eileen, passed away peacefully on Sept. 15, 2009. She was born on Whidbey Island on July 12, 1923 to Albert and Cora Gabelein. She was the oldest of five children and loved growing up on the farm.
She attended Washington State College and studied home economics. Eileen moved to Seattle, married John Waldo “Pete” Peterson and they made their home in the Greenlake area for over 50 years. Her life revolved around raising her four children. She enjoyed being involved in the life of her church, serving for over 40 years as church librarian.
She was preceded in death by her husband. She is survived by her daughter, Janet (Art); sons, John (Valerie), Craig (Wendy) and Mark (Sue); eight grandchildren, Ryan (Christin), Matt (Ginger), Noel, Eric, Corissa, Pauline, Cameron and Luke; her sister, Doris (Norm) Stockholm; and many nieces and nephews.
