Ellan Martha Post, 95, of Coupeville, passed away peacefully on Friday, Aug. 26, 2011, at Regency on Whidbey Harbor Care.
Mrs. Post was born in Royalston, Maine, on April 13, 1916, to Adolph and Ottilie (Roeske) Noetzel. She moved with her family at an early age to the New York City area. On July 21, 1940, she married Robert Post. The couple lived in the Bronx for many years until Ellan’s retirement from the New York Bank for Savings, at which time they moved to Ancram, N.Y. They later moved to Annandale, Va., where they resided until Robert’s death in 1995. At this time, Ellan moved to Coupeville to join her daughter, Wendy Patton, and her son-in-law Jim Patton.
She was an active member of the Oak Harbor Senior Center and the New England Club. She was very involved in handicrafts, such as stamping and embossing, and was avid at crocheting and knitting. The highlight of her life was a family trip to Europe at the age of 80.
Ellan is survived by her daughter Wendy and her son Robert Post (Pamela) of Norman, Okla.; two granddaughters, Myla Stevens of Perkins, Okla., and Mara Post of Norman, Okla.; five step-grandchildren, Jacques, John and Sean Patton, Colleen Hinz and Renee Miyahara; and her sister, Irene Neubauer of Gainesville, Fla.
