Elsie Anne Julson

Elsie Anne Julson, 89, died at Island Hospital, Anacortes, July 29, 2002. She was born to George and Mathilde (Loher) Limmer in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., Sept. 2, 1912.

Mrs. Julson left Sault Ste. Marie as a teenager and moved with her family to Napavine. She graduated from Napavine High School and went on to become a registered nurse, finishing her training at Duke University.

Elsie worked as a registered nurse at Harborview and Swedish hospitals in Seattle, serving as a clinical and surgical nurse. She was married Feb. 10, 1940, to Samuel Julson.

The Julson family moved to Auburn from Seattle, where Sam established a practice as a CPA. The family left Auburn after a time and moved to Five Mile Lake in Federal Way, where they remained for more than 30 years. Elsie quit her nursing career and became a stay-at-home mom. She served as the volunteer school nurse while her children were attending school. As her husband struggled with Alzheimer’s disease, Elsie became his full-time nurse. Samuel died in 1995 and Mrs. Julson moved to Oak Harbor to be near her daughter.

Mrs. Julson was a member of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Fife. She was also a member of the Auburn Nurses Club and Bridge Club. She loved gardening, playing bridge, cooking and most of all, being with her family. She was a wonderful mom, grandmother and great-grandmother.

One daughter, Jennifer Merrill (Raymond) of Oak Harbor, and one son, Eric Julson of Brinnon, survive Mrs. Julson. Four grandchildren and five great-grandchild also survive. One grandchild preceded her in death.

Cremation was held with private family graveside services following at Maple Leaf Cemetery, Oak Harbor. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Burley Funeral Chapel. This obituary may be seen on-line at http://burley.plan4ever.com.
