Elsie E. Chriest, 93, was born July 11, 1912 to Gerhard and Mary Palo in Ishpeming, Mich., and entered into rest on Oct. 14, 2005 in Coupeville. Elsie was active in the Order of the Amaranth with her late husband Gene, and in the late 1950’s as an “Honored Lady” she held the state office in the order as Grand Associate Conductress for the South. Elsie was also very proud of her Finnish heritage.
Elsie is survived by her loving son Edward C. Chriest and his wife Gay of Coupeville; grandchildren Karen, Michael, Eric and Candace; and eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Gene. They were married for over 60 years. Elsie will be laid to rest next to her husband at Evergreen-Washelli Cemeber in Seattle.
