Ernest “Van” Llewelyn, age 58, died at his home in Oak Harbor on Feb. 9, 2013, following an extended illness. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to Lincoln and Dorthea Llewelyn. He graduated from West High School in Salt Lake and began work as a fencing contractor. Later, he began a lifetime career as a long haul truck driver. He logged over 15 million accident free miles on the highways of the lower 48 states. His most recent employer was Smokey Point Distributing Company. Van lived in Salt Lake City and Logan, Utah; Frederick, Md.; St. George, Utah; and in 2002, Oak Harbor.
Van is survived by his children, Trinity Lockert of Denver, Colo.; Stephen, Zachariah and Benjamin Llewelyn, all of Oak Harbor; by the mother of his sons, Patty Llewelyn of Oak Harbor and by the mother of Trinity, Ronnie DeBraak of Denver. He is also survived by grandchildren Alexis Llewelyn, Dane Lockert and LaRaine DeBraak and by two brothers Shan Llewelyn of Salt Lake and Jan Llewelyn of St. George, Utah.
A Celebration of Life will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, March 2 at Wallin Funeral Home, Oak Harbor with Gary Wallin as Life Celebrant. A reception will follow for family and friends.
