Eufemia Raras Ramos, 82, longtime Oak Harbor resident, passed away Dec. 28, 2008, at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, following a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Ramos was born in March 1926, in Pangasinan, the Philippines, to Primitivo and Esperanza (de Guzman) Raras. She attended college in the Philippines, where she received a BA degree in education. On Jan. 15, 1955, Eufemia married Gualberto “Bert” Ramos. They spent time in Japan before coming to the United States in 1960, and eventually to Oak Harbor in 1970. Eufemia was a registered member of the Catholic congregation at NAS Whidbey Base Chapel for many years.
Eufemia’s greatest love was her family. She enjoyed nothing more than being with her husband, children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening.
She is survived by her husband Gualberto “Bert” Ramos, at home in Oak Harbor; three sons, Rodolfo R. Ramos and wife Susan of Mukilteo, Cesar R. Ramos and wife Debbie of Marysville and Mario R. Ramos of Lynnwood; two granddaughters, Tiana Jean Ramos and Dayna Marie Ramos, both of Marysville; two brothers, Jose Raras and Conrado Raras; and two sisters, Lilia Raras Cudal and Nenita Raras, all of the Philippines; also, numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A Funeral Mass was held Dec. 31 at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, Rev. David Young as Celebrant. Private inurnment will take place at a later date at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent.
