Eva Marie Perkins

Eva Marie Perkins, born Dec. 31, 1914 in Manson, Wash., to Paul Newcomb Ford and Mary Elizabeth Ford passed away on July 11, 2006 at the age of 91. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Paul G. Perkins, on July 8, 2005.

She is survived by daughter, Lois M. Butterfield of Vancouver, Wash., and four sons: Douglas F. Perkins of Spokane; Dexter J. Perkins of Startup; Dwight T. Perkins of Camano Island; Daniel R. Perkins of Eugene, Ore.; nine grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

Eva was a United Methodist pastor’s wife in the Pacific Northwest Conference between 1935 and 1970, then upon retirement pursued a career as an accomplished artist for 20 years traveling together with spouse throughout the Pacific Northwest states and Canada sketching thousands of charcoal portraits and painting pictures in watercolor and acrylic. They moved from their home in Startup in 2001 to live in the Cascade Inn Retirement Community in Vancouver, Wash.

Much of the family has long ties to Coupeville through the late Mary E. Ford, Eva’s mother, who purchased property in the area in the early 1940s.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, July 22 at noon at the Sunnyside Cemetery in Coupeville, followed by a reception at the Coupeville United Methodist Church.
