Longtime Oak Harbor resident Evelyn Kragh Allieri peacefully passed away in her sleep on Dec. 13, 2015.
She was born in New York City on April 6, 1918, to Norwegian immigrants Carsten Olsen and Petra Kragh Olsen.
Both Evelyn and her husband, Peter, served their country in WWII and married in 1944.
They resided in New Jersey until moving to Florida in 1956. Their lives were spent working in the restaurant business until they retired in 1983 and moved to Oak Harbor to be near family.
Together they enjoyed the outdoors, traveling and making friends worldwide. Evelyn was a loyal and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
She was widowed in 1990 and spent the next two decades in volunteer service to the NAS Whidbey Island branch of the Navy —Marine Corps Relief Society.
Her final years were spent enjoying life surrounded by family, friends and her beloved pets Teddy, Puss-Puss and Angel.
She loved Oak Harbor for its quaint and quiet existence and its constant reminder of Norway and her family heritage. She was a member of the Sons of Norway and the VFW.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, brother Herbert Olsen, and husband Peter Allieri.
She is survived by her daughter Lynn and son-in-law, Ken Bixler; grandsons Jason and Eric Bixler, Eric’s wife Staci; great-granddaughter Isabella Bixler; Evelyn’s faithful guardians, Keely and Buddy; the Bixlers’ Cocker Spaniels; and numerous nieces and nephews.
