Florence G. Dorr

Florence G. (Wilson) Dorr, 85, died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2010, at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center, Guilderland, N.Y.

Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Mary (McGovern) Wilson. Mrs. Dorr was a graduate of Vincertain Institute, class of 1943, Albany Teachers College and Columbia University. She taught deaf and hearing impaired children at School 19 in Albany for many years and later taught special education classes in America Air Force bases in Japan and Germany. Along with her husband, Bud, she moved to Washington State where they built their retirement home on Whidbey Island. Mrs. Dorr was very active in St. Mary’s parish on Whidbey Island where her husband served as Deacon.

She was predeceased by her husband ”Bud” Dorr and a sisters Louise Mooney and Mary Jane McGlafilin. She is survived by her twin brother, Frederick Wilson, and several nieces and nephews.

A mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Wednesday, Dec. 22, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Coupeville. Rites of Burial were held at Sunnyside Cemetery next to her husband.
