Goodland, Kan., resident Francisco Cruz Lujan, 65, died Jan. 11, 2011, at his home.
He was born Nov. 16, 1945, at Tamuning Dededo, Guam, the son of Felicita (Cruz) and Atanacio L. Lujan. He graduated from JFK High School in Guam.
On May 1, 1970, he and Julie Blas were married at Sinajana, Guam. With his career in the United States Army, they lived in locations throughout the world. They retired in Guam and then received employment through civil service, working at Offut Air Force Base in Bellevue, Neb. After the death of his wife in September of 2004, he moved to Goodland.
He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and American Legion Post 117.
Preceding him in death were his wife Julie B. Lujan; sister Antonia Lujan and her husband Junior Superalas; brothers John C. Lujan, Elutrio C. Lujan and Lorenzo Cruz; brother-in-law Antonio Tectala.
Surviving family includes daughter Janice Bonsall and her husband Grady of Goodland; two sons, Frank A. Lujan of Kiehi, Hawaii and Ernie Blas and his wife Teresa of Oak Harbor; three grandchildren, Julica Bonsall, Ian Bonsall and Marissa Blas; four sisters, Anna Jones and Anthony Cepeda of Altus, Okla., Mary Tectala of Salinas, Calif., Margaret Blas and her husband Pete of Dededo, Guam, and Carmen L. Quiganna of Dededo, Guam; and two brothers, Jesus C. Lujan and his wife Maria of Tamuning, Guam, and Joaquin C. Lujan and his wife Rosa of Dededo, Guam.
A memorial service and inurnment will be at a later date in Oak Harbor. Memorials may be designated to the Francisco Lujan Memorial, and may be mailed to Koons Funeral Home, 211 N. Main, Goodland, KS 67735-1555.
