Galen Helland, a lifelong resident of Clinton, Wash., passed away July 24, 2021 in Everett, Wash.
Galen was born to Miller “Bill” and Gladys Helland on June 14, 1945. Galen Graduated from Langley High School in 1963.
After graduation, he joined the Army, in which he served three years in Italy and Germany. Once he left the Army, he became an auto mechanic until he moved on to his career with the Washington State Ferries, where he worked for 29 years until he retired in 2003.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 48 years Iola Helland; children Darren (Seanea) Helland, Elaine (James) Peace, Gayle (Jon Nevius) Helland and Kathleen (Kristopher) Walsh; six grandchildren Jacob Cherry, Madeline Peace, Mackenzie Walsh, Natalee Walsh, Mason Nevius and Kaylen Nevius; great-grandson Spencer Cherry; brother Allyn (Carla) Helland; and many nieces and nephews and bonus grandchildren.
