George Durward Roberson, also known as “Dur,” born Monday, March 9, 1931, in Indianapolis, passed away peacefully early Thursday morning, Aug. 11, 2016, in Coupeville.

Dur enlisted in the United States Navy and retired as a lieutenant commander.

He held a number of prestigious positions in the local and international Lions Clubs, and served his Oak Harbor community on the Island County Cemetery Board as a commissioner for over 20 years.

A memorial service for Dur will be held in September.
