George McMurdo, 59, passed away at his home after a long battle with cancer on April 21, 2011, with his children at his side. He was born June 6, 1951, in Clarksburg, W.Va.; he later moved to Ohio where he lived until he enlisted in the U.S. Navy.

In 1972 George married Connie in Ripley, N.Y. They began a family and traveled to many locations throughout the United States during his career. In 1987 they moved to Whidbey Island where they retired.

George enjoyed many different things. He loved to rebuild cars and trucks, play softball, spending time at the casino and gardening.

George is survived by sons Shawn McMurdo and Shane McMurdo, daughter Shannon Rodarmel, son-in-law Chad Rodarmel, daughter-in-law Jessaca McMurdo, grandchildren Tristen McMurdo, Nathan McMurdo, Jacob McMurdo, Peyton McMurdo, Rhygan McMurdo and Ayden McMurdo, sisters Clara Jane Deboard (Chester) and Donna Brettrager (Walt), mother-in-law Maxine Murphy and father-in-law Jack Murphy, along with his dog Jasmine. He was preceded in death by his wife Connie McMurdo, father Robert Wayne McMurdo and grandmother Clara Jane Barton-High.

His family would like to thank his caretakers Chad Rodarmel and Jessaca McMurdo, as well as the MAC Clinic at Whidbey General Hospital. He will be forever in our hearts.
