Gina Rosalind Sibley, 50, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013, after a very courageous battle with cancer. Gina was born on Oct. 27, 1962, in Oklahoma City to parents John and Rose Sibley.
They moved to Jackson-ville, Fla. and ended up in Oak Harbor in 1974.
Gina graduated from Oak Harbor High School in 1980 and then attended Skagit Valley College where she received an Associates degree.
Her professional career included working for Snohomish Transit as well as Island Transit.
Gina moved to San Diego where she worked with the school district for quite a few years and returned to Oak Harbor two years ago. Up until her death, she worked in a supervisory capacity at New Leaf, Inc.
Gina had many interests in life that brought her joy. She had an avid love of exploring lighthouses, reading, singing karaoke, competing in video game challenges, shopping for fashions, especially shoes. She dearly loved dogs, especially her malamute, Luke, who was her baby. Gina’s most cherished memories, however, were spending time with family and friends.
She was a very thoughtful and compassionate woman who was frequently guilty of random acts of kindness. Gina could brighten up any occasion with her warm smile.
Gina was a devoted daughter, wife, sister, aunt and friend. She loved life to the fullest and embraced everyone around her, putting them first.
She is survived by her parents, John and Rose Sibley; her sisters and brothers and their families; her husband, Ronald Story, and a multitude of friends.
There will be a memorial service 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24 at the Church on the Rock, 1780 S.E. Fourth Ave. in Oak Harbor.
A reception will follow at the church immediately after the service.
A private interment will be held separately the day before.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorial donations on Gina’s behalf to the “Operation Christmas Child” program at the Church on the Rock or to the Lighthouse Society, 415-362-7255.
