Glenn Rosenberger, 94, went to be with the Lord on August 5, 2009, while at his home in Oak Harbor. He was born Dec. 26, 1914, in Sterling, Colo., to Robert and Margaret (Thomas) Rosenberger. He was raised in Boulder, Colo., and graduated from State Preparatory School in 1932. Following high school he joined the CCC project building a trail to the top of Mount Evans. He was an avid amateur radio operator, W9FFU.
In July of 1939 Glenn married Dorothy Johnson in Boulder and together they raised sons Richard and Gary, and daughter Kathy. Glenn was a letter pressman, working in commercial printing in the Boulder area.
During World War II Glenn was asked to instruct servicemen to use Morse code at the University of Colorado. He was a member of numerous radio clubs, including the Boulder club BARC. He was an active member of the Elks Club of Boulder. Glenn had a quick wit, loved cribbage games and was an enthusiastic sports fan.
The Rosenbergers moved to Oak Harbor in 1999 and have been active at Family Bible and the Senior Center. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Dorothy, along with daughter Kathy and husband Lewis of Oak Harbor as well as his grandsons Charles, John and Paul, and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service for Glenn will be held at Family Bible Church on Wednesday, Aug. 19, at 10:30 a.m., followed by a graveside service at Mountain View Cemetery in Boulder, Colo., on Aug. 21, 2009 at 3 p.m. Arrangements were entrusted to Burley Funeral Chapel, Oak Harbor, Wash. and Howe Mortuary, Lafayette, Colo.
