Harriet (Sis) Brooks Hansen Jackson passed away at her beloved home on Whidbey Island, Washington. Sis, as she was known by her family & friends, was born in Evanston, IN.
Attended Coe College in Cedar Rapids, IA,, and raised her children in Whitefish Bay, WI. Sis spent the last 1/2 of her life as a “snowbird”, alternating seasons between the Pacific Northwest and the SoCal desert areas. Sis was an avid volunteer: Tri Delta sorority, Junior League in all places of residence, was a founder of The Literary Society of the Desert – a book and journalism group for high school students, a docent at the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle, WA, and a 40 yr docent and Board member at the Living Desert in Palm Desert, CA.
A lifelong athlete, she enjoyed most golf and tennis. She rarely turned down a good hike – having rafted and hiked the Grand Canyon more than once. Sis was preceded in death by her parents: Harriet and Boe Brooks, her brother Hal Brooks, USMC ret, Sis is survived by her sister Ann Fawcett, son Eric Hansen, daughter Brooke Doyle (Jim), grandchildren Michael Hansen, Jeremy Doyle, Chris Hansen, Kody Hansen and great granddaughter Reagan Hansen. A celebration of life (open house) will be held at Useless Bay Country Club on Whidbey Island on Friday, November 11, 2022, 1:00pm – 4:00pm.
