Harry A. Hopkins III, age 79, of Coupeville, passed quietly and peacefully July 20, 2016, at Home Place Memory Care, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
Prior to marrying Patty Alton in 1960 he worked at Kern Oil and Refinery and was soon after drafted into the Army.
He served in Korea and received an honorable discharge. Once he returned, he continued to work for Kern Oil and Refinery until he retired.
He was a longterm resident of Bakersfield, Calif., and in 1998 he and Patty moved to Whidbey Island.
He loved watching fabulous sunsets, walking on the beach and enjoying all of the nature in the Pacific Northwest.
Harry was a gentle man, loving husband, father, grandfather, friend and veteran. He will be greatly missed by us all.
He is survived by his loving wife Patty of 56 years; daughters, Dena Myers and Diana Patrick-Dworak; and granddaughters Tara Anderson, Megan Cooper, Lauren Myers and Paley Patrick.
His wishes were not to have a formal service, but there will be a family memorial with Military Honors at Los Angeles Odd Fellows Cemetery.
Contributions to your local Alzheimer’s Foundation of America would be appreciated. Please share memories and condolences at www.whidbeymemorial.com
