CAMANO ISLAND – Harvey A. Jansma, 86, a Camano Island resident, passed away on Friday, May 3, 2024 at the Brookdale Senior Living Care Center. He leaves behind his beloved wife Gladys J. (Hamm) Jansma, to whom he was married for 60 years.
Born in Oak Harbor, Washington on May 1, 1938, he was the son of the late Mynard (Mike) Jansma and Dena (Roodzant) Jansma.
Harvey was a lifelong resident of Island County and was a graduate of Oak Harbor High School, Class of 1957. After graduating Harvey pursued a career in law enforcement and worked for the Island County Sheriff’s Office as a Deputy Sheriff.
After a medical retirement from ICSO Harvey worked in the landscaping field on Camano Island as well as the Snohomish County Public Utilities District.
Harvey spent many happy years with his wife Gladys traveling through the Washington countryside on their many drives. Harvey also had a passion for woodworking and enjoyed giving his many woodworking creations to family and friends.
His family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the Brookdale Senior Living Center for their care and compassion during Harvey’s time in their care.
In addition to his wife Gladys, Harvey leaves his sons Brian and Randy Jansma, daughter-in-laws, Manuela and Jessica Jansma; four grandchildren, Ashley Davis, Lindsey Jansma, Kimber Jansma and Justin Jansma, and two great grandchildren; Xander Richards and Maverick Lewis; also several nieces and nephews. Harvey was preceded in death by his father Mynard, mother Dena and three sisters: Evalyn Norman, Joan Jenkins & Mary Ellen Jansma.
Relatives and friends are invited to Harvey’s Celebration of Life on Wednesday 22 May 2024, 1:00 PM at the Camano Chapel(867 S West Camano Dr, Camano Island, WA 98282).
