James Louis Clements, Jr.
James Louis Clements, Jr., 75, longtime resident of Oak Harbor, died suddenly at his home Sept. 2, 2002, after being diagnosed with cancer.
Mr. Clements was born in San Diego on Aug. 4, 1927, to James L. Clements, Sr., and D. Kathleen (Elder) Clements. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He then attended Centralia Community College and Washington State University, majoring in electronics engineering. Jim joined the Philco Corp. in 1952 as a NAESU Field Engineer, retiring in 1968.
His second career began in 1971 by joining Sears as a service technician. Seventeen years later, he retired from Sears to catch up on hobbies, travel and reading. In 1967, he joined Whidbey Island Masonic Lodge No. 15 F.&A.M., and served as Master in 1976.
Jim is survived by his loving wife Betty L. Clements at home; and a brother, Steven D. Clements and wife Penny and niece Robin Clements, all of Jersey City, N.J.
In keeping with his wishes, no service will be held. Private inurnment will take place at Sunnyside Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to Friends of the Oak Harbor Library, 1000 E. Regatta Dr., Oak Harbor WA 98277. Arrangements and cremation under direction of Burley Funeral Chapel.
