James Craig “Jimmy” Cooper, 57, passed away after a brief illness on April 7, 2011. Jimmy relocated to Oak Harbor in 1991 to live with his cousin Kent Freer. He started a successful home remodel and repair business and was joined by his long-time companion Shari Mattson and her two sons. He loved his family, hot rods, boats and boy toys.
He is survived by his cousins, Kent and Marie, Val and Carmen Freer, his ex-wife Shari and step-sons John Johnson and Ryan Mattson, and his beloved grandson “Jay,” along with his brother, sister-in-law and several loved nephews and nieces from out of state. A private family memorial was held April 16 at sunset.
