James Dennis Maner passed away on April 22, 2024 on Whidbey Island. He was 91 years old. Jim was born in Franklinville, North Carolina. After high school he joined the Air Force, serving during the Korean War at Paine Field in Everett, Washington. During those years he met his wife Jackie (Baker) Maner, and they were married 50 years. After his time in the service, Jim attended North Carolina State and earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. He and Jackie moved back to Washington State where he worked for Seattle City Light, and eventually became the Director of Engineering, Operations, and Power Supply for the Snohomish County PUD.
After retirement Jim and Jackie moved to Langley, Washington, and had a winter residence in Palm Desert, California. The couple enjoyed activities such as boating, travel and golf. Jim was a member of the Everett Golf and Country Club, Useless Bay Country Club, and Woodhaven Country Club.
Jim is survived by his daughter, Robin Hertlein, three grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. He was proceeded in death by his wife Jackie, son Bill, sister Dorothy, and his dear friend Kari Gray. The family would like to thank Angell’s on Whidbey for providing him with loving care. A private family service will be held in May.
