James O’Brien

James “Jim” O’Brien was born May 21, 1940, in San Diego, Calif., to James and Betty O’Brien. Jim quietly passed away in his home in Oak Harbor Sept. 3, 2004.

Jim was a graduate of Ballard High School and served with honor in the U.S. Marine Corps for 17 years. He served three years in the U.S. Navy. He worked in the oil refinery in Anacortes for many years and drove taxis in Oak Harbor for two years. Jim attended Skagit Valley College for two years.

Jim is survived by his longtime loving companion of 14 years, Connie Steadman Lehman, at the family home in Oak Harbor; by daughter Kelly O’Brien of Tacoma; by son, Sean O’Brien of Republic, and by seven grandchildren. Also by Marilyn Steadman and family of Oak Harbor. His parents preceded him in death.

Jim loved his life, his family and many, many friends. He enjoyed working on the computer, watching his western movies and listening to Elvis and “Sons of the Pioneers.” He loved to watch football, make people laugh and ask them if “they wanted to see his scar.”

Jim was a wonderful, caring and loving companion and father. He will truly be loved and missed by all who knew him.

Cremation was held in Oak Harbor. Connie and Marilyn would like everyone to always remember all the good things about Jim and take a quiet moment of silence and prayer for him.

Thanks to all for being his friend and all the love and support you have given to Jim and Connie through the years. His life, through our memories, will live on with us forever.
