Jason D. Jenkins

Jason Dwayne Jenkins, 26, died Dec. 9, 2006, as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident in Seattle. He was born to Odis Dexter and Brenda Faye (Simon) Jenkins III in Denver, Colo., on Oct. 21, 1980.

Jason moved with his family to Oak Harbor at the age of 12. He attended Oak Harbor Middle School and Oak Harbor High School, graduating with the class of 1999. Following graduation, Jason moved to Lake City, near Seattle. He worked various jobs and then left for Chicago, where he worked for his uncle in construction.

Jason became convinced that construction was his calling in life. He joined the carpenter’s union and began to serve his apprenticeship. He had completed two years of the program at the time of his death. Everything in Jason’s life was coming together and he had found his flow.

Jason loved cars, especially the exotic models and had a real passion for Mustangs. He loved people and especially children. He had a deep abiding faith in his God. He was strong willed, but a very peaceful person with a quiet demeanor.

Jason is survived by his parents Odis and Brenda Jenkins and his sister Felice Jenkins, all of Oak Harbor; one half-brother Odis D. Jenkins IV of Denver; and by his uncles and aunts, David and Linda Jenkins of Oak Harbor and Marietta Lee, Aaron Jenkins and Michael Jenkins; by his grandfather, Odis Jenkins, Sr. of San Antonio, Texas; by his adopted grandparents, James and Daisy Blackburn of Oak Harbor; and by the Simon family and Oscar Simon and the Tousto and Gilbert families. His cousins also survive him: Juan and Lejani Smalls, Daniel, D.J and Drew, Monica, Jerrica, Naomi and Lynette, and Cheryl, Monicque and Terry. His grandfather, grandmothers and an aunt and uncle preceded him in death.

Funeral services for Jason Jenkins will be held at the Living Faith Christian Center, Oak Harbor on Saturday, Dec. 16, at 2 p.m. Cremation will follow with private family inurnment to be held at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Burley Funeral Chapel, Oak Harbor.
