Jo Alberts Lord passed away on Aug. 14, 2019 at home.
She was born in Havre De Grace, Md., to Reneé Miller Alberts and Henry Celler Alberts. She grew up with three sisters, Nina, and twins, Hope and Jody.
Jo graduated from Langley High School in Fairfax County, Va.
Jo married Wayne Lord in March 1973. While stationed in Virginia Beach, Jo obtained her associates degree in applied science. Being a Navy wife, Jo lived in several states, Virginia, Washington (twice) and Texas. Their son, Jeffrey, was born in Virginia, and their daughter, Jessica, in Washington state.
Jo had a continuing career in banking, reapplying for positions in every new location.
Jo was a people person, outgoing and engaging, and made efforts to be a contributing member of her community. She baked and cooked, bringing treats to EMTs, fire department personnel, and nurses at WhidbeyHealth, in Coupeville, Wash., where she was being treated for cancer.
Sadly, serious concerns clouded the last years of her life, but she persisted in making food packages for friends and relatives.
In her final days, those friends, family and neighbors kept a constant vigil by her side.
Jo is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Wayne (Butch) Lord; son, Jeffrey; daughter, Jessica; grandsons; and many nieces and nephews and friends.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
