John Pinkiewicz passed away on July 3, 2011, at his home at the age of 74.
He was born Sept. 21, 1936, in Purth Amboy, N.J., to Paul and Ethel Pinkiewicz. In 1955 he joined the Navy and was stationed in New London, Conn. He was on two submarines, the Daniel Boone and the Tunny. He went into E.O.D. and retired in 1978.
John went on to Civil Service in the Security Department at Whidbey Island Naval Air Station for 10 years.
John is survived by his wife of 49 years, Rita A Pinkiewicz; daughter, Kathleen Nash; two sisters, Marie and Dottie; niece and nephew, Sharon and Steven Marrotte; and Kevin Butler, a very good friend who was by John’s side through his illness and at his passing.
John will be missed by his wife and daughter.
John is remembered for his giving spirit, love of animals and sense of humor. John loved to go crabbing and shared with all his friends.
A celebration of his life will be held at the American Legion on Saturday, July 16, at 1 p.m. in Oak Harbor. Donations can be made to the American Cancer Society in his name.
