Joy Faye Gordon was born in April 1929 on a reservation in Oklahoma. She passed on Oct. 1, 2016, in Coupeville, Wash.

Her life was a series of triumphs over adversity. Among the accomplishments in her life were working as a manager for Sears and being an excellent cook and Master Gardener.

A person who always put others and their needs before herself, she was a great contributor to her community by serving as Admiral’s Cove treasurer and as a member of the architectural committee. She also put great efforts into the contributions of the Coupeville Garden Club.

She had total devotion for her family, her garden and giving her handmade quilts to terminally ill children.

Faye is survived by her daughter, Lynn Studdard, her son, Steve Gordon, and three grandchildren.

Per her wishes her passing will be mourned by family in private.
