Karen Harrington Bishop, 71, of Anacortes, passed away on Monday, Nov. 2, 2015, at Island Hospital in Anacortes.
She was born on March 19, 1944, in Portland, Maine, to Daniel and Joyce (Hancock) Harrington.
Before moving to Anacortes in June 2015, Karen was a 23-year resident of Greenbank. She was a longtime volunteer for the American Red Cross, the Girl Scouts and AARP.
Karen was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth F. Bishop III. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Ken; her daughter, Kristin Bishop of Oak Harbor; a daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Bob Post of Greenbank; two grandsons, Jake, attending the University of Maryland and Zac, attending the University of Oregon; three brothers, Dan, Robert and Tom; and a sister, Bonnie.
She was loved and will be greatly missed. In honor of Karen’s wishes, a celebratory Irish wake will be held at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Karen’s name to the American Red Cross, 2025 E Street NW, Washington, D.C. 20006 (1-800-RED CROSS).
Arrangements are in the care of Evans Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., Anacortes and the San Juan Islands.
