Kelly Renee Sellers, 54, passed away Oct. 7, 2013 in Oak Harbor.
She was born in San Diego on Feb. 21, 1959 to Roger and Lynn Lawson.
The eldest of three children, she is survived by her brother Randal Lawson and his daughter Meisha; her sister Stacy Gomes and her daughter DeLanie and her father Roger.
Her first daughter, Dajah Beck, was born on her own birthday in 1983.
She was married to the love of her life, Chester Sellers, on Dec. 16, 1989, and her second daughter, Jaden Sellers, was born on July 23, 1990.
After retiring with her husband to Oak Harbor, she welcomed her son, Zack Sellers on Sept. 22, 1994.
Chester lost his battle with Leukemia in 1995, and Kelly dedicated the rest of her life to caring for her children.
Kelly was also dedicated to helping others.
During her 20 years on Whidbey Island, she opened her heart and home to countless adults and adolescents in need.
She was a mother to many and offered a safe and loving second home to dozens of children.
She was a fighter for those who could not defend themselves, a champion of the rights of animals and a loyal friend.
She had a quick wit, a kind heart and a compassionate nature.
She could beat anyone in a bowling alley or a pair of roller skates, and left an impressive collection of rock n’ roll history from her youth (you’ve never seen so many back stage passes).
She is a tough act to follow and we can only hope to make her proud by touching the lives of others the way that she did during her time with us.
We were blessed to have her among us. Mother, daughter, sister, wife and friend; we will love and miss her for the rest of our lives.
A memorial for Kelly will be held on Nov. 10.
We invite anyone who would like to celebrate her life to contact her family for further information.
