“What a man!”
August 19, 1927 – July 15, 2022
Lauren Herbert Campbell, son of Lester and Myrtle (Smith) Campbell,
went to heaven just before his 95th birthday, his wife of 43 years, Diana, by his side.
Larry and his brother Dean (Gloria, recently deceased) grew up on the family farm on Campbell Road, where they raised and sold produce at their vegetable stand. He started picking strawberries at 5. Maybe this is how he became such a hardworking, sociable guy.
He worked as a logger most of his life, later turning his talents to grading projects.
Larry served in the army on Kwajalein Island in telecommunications.
He always had time for a word with his family and community and was a GREAT storyteller.
Larry leaves behind his brother Dean (Gloria (d)), his 6 children from a previous marriage: Dave (Jill) Campbell, Delores Campbell, Cynthia Campbell, Diane (Jack) Schaumleffel, Don (Kathy) Campbell, Terri (Dean) O’Brien; as well as his 4 bonus children: Michael Hawley (d), Cindi (Mike Morley, Suzanne Hawley, Debbi (Rob) Warrick.
Larry also had 20 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
He will be sorely missed by all and remembered through his stories.
Please join his family in celebrating this wonderful man on August 14th
at South Whidbey Assembly of God church at 2 pm. (5373 Maxwelton Rd. Langley, WA.)
Instead of flowers, his family would request donations sent to
Island Senior Resources (formerly Island Senior Services).
