Lillian Cecile “Ceal” (Corson) Kight, 66, of Anacortes, was born Dec. 5, 1945, in Los Angeles to Cecil James and Lillian Mary (Watson) Corson. Her young years were spent in Lakewood, Calif. Ceal attended Lakewood High School where she met her first husband, Roy Weber. Together they welcomed their two sons Dennis and Leslie. Cecile’s dreams in life were being a wife, mother and a nurse. Cecile began her career as a nurse’s aide where others noticed her amazing gift of caring for others and encouraged her to become a nurse. In the 1970s, Cecile balanced being a wife and loving mother, and went back to school to become an RN. She graduated from Cerritos College and spent over 20 years caring for premature babies in the NICU at St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood, Calif.

In 1981, Cecile married James Kight and blended her two sons with Jim’s three children Brenda, Kathy and James. Jim and Cecile moved to Anacortes in 1992 where Cecile continued caring for others in a variety of nursing roles. She spent 17 years as nurse for the Skagit County Community Action, providing maternal support for young military families. After courageously battling cancer for 11 long years, Cecile passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Monday, April 23, 2012.

She is survived by her husband Jim; son Dennis and his wife Daeleen and their children Scott, Erik and Todd; son Leslie, his wife Merrilee and their children Jake and Kate; daughter Brenda and her son Cody; daughter Kathy and her children Nate, Kane and Asa; son James and his wife Samantha and their children Brian, Jacob and Nicholus; brothers Les and Jim Corson; unofficial brother Warren Cotton; and first husband Roy Weber.

Cecile had many passions in life. She enjoyed camping, fishing, river rafting, charitable work with the Elks, reading, computers and especially spending time with her grandchildren and caring for and helping others. After being diagnosed with cancer, Cecile became involved with Relay for Life where she was instrumental in making the Anacortes Relay a success in its early years.

Cecile’s love and concern for others was constant and unconditional. Cecile did not take compliments well. Although she was a gift to everyone she met, she did not realize that she was a gift to everyone she came in contact with. A memorial service was held on April 27, 2012 at Evans Funeral Chapel in Anacortes. A Celebration of Life and Pot Luck will take place at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 20, 2012 at the Oak Harbor Elks Lodge, 155 NE Ernst St, Oak Harbor.
