On Tuesday, October 17, 2023, Lloyd Delette Cross Jr. passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends; he was eighty-five. Born in Georgia to Hartie Ruth Cox Cross and Lloyd Cross Sr. on May 28th, 1938, Lloyd Jr. served his country with a career in the United States Air Force, including combat tours, retiring after twenty-one years as a Senior Master Sergeant. Lloyd then went to work on the Alaska pipeline with ARCO for almost ten years, then left Alaska to live in Washington state.
Lloyd was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. He traveled and lived all over the world from the U.S. to SE Asia and Japan. Lloyd enjoyed taking photographs of his family’s adventures and forgetting passwords to all his computer programs.
Lloyd, or Delette as some of us called him, is survived by his wife Robin and her daughters, his daughter Janice, his son Lloyd III, along with numerous family members and friends. Lloyd was preceded in death by his daughter Carla and stepson Steven.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on November 11, 2023, at the Western Village clubhouse in Oak Harbor, Washington. Memorial contributions may be made in Lloyd’s honor to the Wounded Warrior Project: www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
