On the evening of Feb. 6, 2013, life support was removed from Louise Trostel Deskey-Wegg and she was granted release from her failing body. Her husband TK Wegg and pastor Nigel Tabor-Hamilton were present; she received a final kiss and prayer. Louise was born on June 14, 1938 in
Milwaukee, Wis., the daughter of Albert and Kendrick Trostel, the sister of Albert (Parker) Trostel of Minneapolis, Minn., the sister of Janet (Andy) Martin of Milwaukee, Wis., and the sister of Tara (Jon) Eaton of Ft. Thomas, Ky. She attended school in the Milwaukee school system, high school,
Milwaukee University School and Emma Willard in Troy, NY. Louise attended the University of Colorado and several prestigious art schools and academies. She spent the early years of her adult life as an Interior Decorator in New York and Chicago before marriage. Louise’s two sons, Dennis
and Derek were the pride of her life. One of the proudest moments of her life was when Derek and Barbara presented her with two grandchildren, Will and Kate, their step-grandfather being equally proud. As the children left home Louise looked for new worlds to conquer and went back to college; where she achieved a BA and MSW at Antioch University in Seattle. She continued to work as a social worker, responsible for aiding older adults. Her biggest success was aiding TK Wegg who was in desperate need of help, and ignorant of that need. Louise and TK were married September 19, 1998, the beginning to a very happy life for both. They traveled, boated, and volunteered together. Louise supported many ecological, political and human services. They all are too numerous to mention; they ran the gamut from National Parks, Presidential campaigns, and mosquito nets in Africa. Louise’s prime volunteer effort was Planned Parenthood; where she served on the regional board of Directors.
She was also on the Board of Northwest Regional Advisors, an organization for the support of older adults. Louise was a “giver,” a giver of money, time and love to everyone she met or anything she touched. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013 at St. Augustine’s in the Woods Episcopal Church, 5217 Honeymoon Bay Road in Freeland. Five other memorial services will be held at different venues, with dates and times to be determined. Memorials in Louise’s name may be made to Planned Parenthood or to Episcopal Relief and Development. Arrangements are in the care of Evans Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc. in Anacortes and the San Juan Islands.
