Lurlene May Ogle, known to everyone as Lu, passed away peacefully at home August 26th, 2021 surrounded by her family. Born in 1933 to Frank and Marcia Blackstock, Lurlene grew up in Seattle with her older brother Ray. After graduating from Roosevelt high school, she lived and worked in Seattle as a dental assistant until meeting the love of her life, Larry Ogle. They married in 1957 and shortly after bought property on Whidbey Island and began building a vacation cabin. They were “weekenders” until work brought them to Whidbey full time. Lu and Larry worked and managed side by side at Coast to Coast Hardware (Sebo’s Do It Center) in Bayview for many years until their retirement. She will be remembered by many as the smiling face at the Island County Fair scone booth, and for her involvement in such organizations as the American Legion Auxillary and the Rod and Gun Club, as well as volunteering at Good Cheer. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Ray and his wife Alice, and her husband of 44 years, Larry. She will be missed dearly by those she leaves behind; her son Larry Deane (Susan) Ogle, her daughter Linda Duarte, her son Shawn (Crystal) Ogle. Lu was well loved by her nieces and nephew, her numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Larry and Lu will be interred at the Sunnyside Cemetery in Coupeville, WA. After 20 years apart, they are together again forever.
