Margaret K. (Bradley) LeBlanc

Margaret K. (Bradley) LeBlanc died Sept. 23, 2007, due to complications of congestive heart failure.

Marge was born in Tupper Lake, N.Y., Jan. 11, 1917. She was the daughter of Archie and Katherine (Mapp) Bradley. She often spoke fondly of her parents and frequently shared stories about the adventures she, her eight siblings, and their numerous friends had growing up in Tupper Lake. She became a life-long member of Tupper Lake’s chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.

In 1942, she married a childhood friend, Joseph Maurice LeBlanc, who was in the Army Air Corps (which later became the U. S. Air Force). Frequent changes of duty stations provided an opportunity for Marge and Joe to instill a love of American history in their four daughters. In the course of traveling cross-country, historical sites, battlefields, and state and national parks were never left unexplored. Marge and Joe never lost their love of the mountains; family vacations were always adventurous camping trips.

After Joe retired from the Air Force in Montana, the family continued to move to new locations, the majority of which were western states. A Licensed Practical Nurse, an accomplished vocalist, and a talented artist, Marge devoted increasing amounts of time during their retirement years to painting miniature forest and desert landscapes.

Marge LeBlanc is survived by her husband, Joseph; one sister, Lt. Col. Patricia Bradley (Ret.) of North Carolina; three daughters, Wendy LeBlanc of Anaheim, Calif., Maureen Ford of Lafayette, Colo., and Peggy Koch of Oak Harbor; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, four sisters, and one daughter, Patricia Ann Phillips.

Pastor Dick Koch will conduct a memorial service for family members in Oak Harbor. Marge asked her nephew, James Chapman Robideau, to transport her cremains to his ranch in the beautiful mountains of Montana.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Burley Funeral Chapel, Oak Harbor.
