Margaret Mary Reilly, 87, died Feb. 19, 2004, at Whidbey Island Manor. She was born Oct. 28, 1916, in Freeland, Pa. Margaret had 10 siblings, six sisters and four brothers. Margaret was married to Joseph Thomas Reilly and had four children, two sons and two daughters. The Reillys raised their children in Pennsylvania.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband in 1969. Following her husband’s death, she lived in Florida, Georgia and North Carolina. In 1993, Margaret moved to Oak Harbor to be close to her son. Cambridge Cove became her new home. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Oak Harbor. She volunteered at Island Thrift, enjoyed playing cards with friends and her great-grandchildren, traveling and was an avid sports fan. She particularly enjoyed watching the Seattle Mariners.
Margaret is survived by four siblings, Alice Hogan of New York, Francis Belekanich of Jim Thorpe of Pennsylvania and Helen Adamshick and Michael Belekanich of Freeland, Pa. She is also survived by her four children: Michael J. Reilly and wife Carol of Oak Harbor; Barbara Galezniak and husband Joseph of Allentown, Pa.; Joseph T. Reilly and wife Deborah of Annapolis, Md.; and Joanne Johannesson of Kerrville, Texas. The six surviving grandchildren are: Yvette Sandefur of Oak Harbor; Michelle Reilly of Tumwater; Sherry Toman and Christy Galezniak of Allentown, Pa.; Robert Tyler of Boerne, Texas; and Cynthia Prentice of San Antonio, Texas. The seven great-grandchildren are: Jake and Reilly Sandefur of Oak Harbor; Sierra and Kendra Toman of Allentown, Pa.; Ty and Michael Tyler of Boerne, Texas; and Joanna Kinser of Tampa, Fla.
There will be a celebration of life held for Margaret Reilly at First United Methodist Church, Oak Harbor, Thursday, March 25, at 1 p.m. Pastor David G. Lura will preside over the service.
