Marilyn Joan Lang-Humphries passed away on April 11, 2024 in a Seattle hospital. She was 77 years old. Marilyn was born on October 16, 1946 in Ontario, Canada to George and Lillian Legge.
Marilyn was a victim of childhood polio, spending 7 months of her early life confined in an iron lung. When Marilyn was 11 y/o her father decided to relocate the family to Southern California; Riverside, to be exact. Marilyn never truly attended High School, but later decided to achieve a higher education, ultimately receiving her Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Counseling from Loma Linda University in 1980. She became a Social Worker for the Department of Public Social Services in San Bernardino County, California. IN 1987 she founded Alpha Treatment Centers, a non-profit foster family agency in Southern California. She married her current husband, Emmanuel Humphries in 1993.
Marilyn was a prolific artist, using mostly oils and acrylics. She enjoyed traveling with Emmanuel and disabled daughter, Melissa, having sailed on 45 cruises and spending two months in France on one vacation. Marilyn loved love. She loved most people she met and they felt the same toward her.
Marilyn lost her mother in 2000 and her father in 2004. She is survived by her loving husband, six children, eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Private services will be held at a later date.
