Marion “Andy” Anderson passed away on April 14, 2016.
Andy was born on Aug. 26, 1919, in Osage, Minn., to Arthur and Theressa Anderson. He was the first of 10 children.
He graduated from Park Rapids High School in 1938 before he married Dorothy Ellen Lord.
He joined the Navy, where he enjoyed an illustrious 20-year career as chief aviation metalsmith, and served in WWII and Korea. The Navy sent Andy all over, including Florida, San Diego, Okinawa and Alaska. He then continued working for the military as a civil servant for an additional 20 years.
When he wasn’t working, Andy enjoyed continuing his travels by trailor-ing, hunting and fishing.
Andy is preceded in death by his wife Dorothy; his significant other Ella Mae Maddox; his daughter Marilyn L. Anderson; and seven brothers and sisters. He is survived by his brother Erwin Anderson and sister Helen Anderson.
The family would like to thank Harbor Tower and Whidbey General for the excellent care they gave Andy. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 9, at Burley Funeral Chapel.
