Marlowe J. Kluksdahl, 67, of Oak Harbor, died Aug. 24, 2007, at his home in Oak Harbor. He was born in Valley City, N.D., on April 26, 1940, to Rudolph Palmer and Harriett Mildred (Helland) Kluksdahl. He grew up on the family farm then, after graduating from Valley City High School in 1957, joined the National Guard. He married Patricia Klein in Sanborn, N.D., on Dec. 1, 1958.
After serving in the National Guard for one year he decided to join the United States Navy. He served overseas during Vietnam, and traveled with the Blue Angels between ’67-’69 serving as their chief jet mechanic. He spent over 22 years in the Navy before retiring to Oak Harbor.
Here he worked as a handyman for a local property rental company, and at the base as a civil servant. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion in Oak Harbor. An avid fisherman and hunter, he also enjoyed restoring classic cars and traveling, and spent his winters in Yuma, Ariz.
He is survived by his wife Patricia and son Patrick of Oak Harbor; daughters Sherry Clyne (and her husband Brad) of Sahuarita, Ariz., and Shelly Kluksdahl of Oxnard, Calif.; brother Farrell Kluksdahl (and his wife Claudine) of Richmond, Va.; nephews Brent of Fort Meyers, Fla., and John of New Orleans, La.; and niece Melissa Mayhew, also of Richmond.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Viewing and visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 30, at Burley Funeral Chapel, followed by a private family graveside service.
