Candy Smith, 84, died at Whidbey General Hospital Saturday, Aug. 6, 2011, after a brief illness. She was born Nov. 6, 1926, in Springfield, Ill.

Candy is survived by her husband of 42 years, Carl, at the family home. She also leaves behind many friends and so many who were fortunate to become family. She lived a full and inspiring life. She touched so many lives through foster care and AA. She will be greatly missed and her stories will be remembered.

There will be an informal gathering of friends and family Sunday, Aug. 21.
