MaryAnn Davis, longtime resident of Clinton, Wash., passed awayWednesday, June 30, 2021 at her home. She was surrounded by her family after a short battle with cancer.
MaryAnn was born to Frank and Margaret Lehmann on June 24, 1941 in Omaha, Neb. She grew up in Idaho and attended Idaho State University. While in college she met Glen Davis, who was stationed in Mountain Home, Idaho in the Air Force as an aircraft mechanic.
On Jan. 30, 1966 they got married and moved to Eugene, Ore. While living in Eugene she gave birth to their three children, Lisa, Susan and Nathan. They later moved to Tigard, Ore.
In 1978, Glen and MaryAnn decided to move to Whidbey Island to raise their family. They purchased Whidbey Oil Sales and the Shell Gas Station in Clinton from Con and Ardelle Orr. Together, they ran Whidbey Oil Sales, managed the full-serve Shell gas station and garage and later operated Glen’s Furnace Repair, U-Haul truck rentals and Family Rent-a-Car. This kept them busy with three kids at home.
In retirement, MaryAnn decided to take a job at Jim’s Hardware in Clinton where she worked to keep busy. She continued to work there until her recent bout with cancer.
MaryAnn enjoyed being a part of the community and getting to know people. She always told us what a great community we lived in. She said she moved here to Whidbey Island not knowing anyone and was blessed to have been able to raise her family here, making many friends along the way. She enjoyed golfing and playing Bingo and Bunko with her friends.
MaryAnn was active with many organizations through the years on the island and dedicated many hours of her time to the community. She was an active member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, the Island County Fair and was involved at the South Whidbey High School, where she ran the clock at basketball games and took tickets for the football games. She enjoyed all the clubs and associations that she was a part of over the years.
She was preceded in death by her husband of more than 52 years, Glen Davis, in 2018. She leaves behind her three children, Lisa Bova (Sundown), of Clinton, Susan Sanders of Clinton and Nathan Davis (Chandy), of Clinton and her four siblings, Ray Lehmann (Gloria), Robert Lehmann (Lu), Lee Lehmann (June) and Janice Miller. She was also very proud of her three grandchildren, Hunter Bova, Ryder Ambrose and Andrew Davis.
The family would like to thank you all for your love and support.
We want to thank all her family and friends who visited her in her last days. This meant a lot to her and she was grateful for this time.
A memorial service for MaryAnn will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 23 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Clinton, officiated by Matt Chambers.
