Matthew Isaiah Hornback, infant son of Stephen G. Hornback II and Tamara Lynn (Burkhart) Hornback, died several hours after his premature birth on Wednesday, April 10, 2002, at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle.

In addition to his parents, Matthew is survived by his big brother Stephen Hornback III of the family home in Oak Harbor; grandparents, Diane McCormack and husband Mack and Stephen Hornback Sr. and wife Mae, all of Oak Harbor; great-aunt and great-uncle, Jean and Bill Henry of Oak Harbor; uncles and aunts Michael Hornback and Lee Ann Otte and husband Doug, all of Oak Harbor; Michelle Chester and husband Michael of Plano, Texas, Michael Burkhart and wife Jill of Crocker, Mo., and Sharon Burkhart of Cheyenne, Wyo.; cousins, Michael and Amber Chester, Micah Burkhart, Brandon and Nathan Baza, Kellen and Melissa Otte and Keisha Burkhart. Matthew was preceded in death by his infant brother Christopher James Hornback in 1996 and by a grandfather, Donald Burkhart, in 1990.

Private family services were held at Maple Leaf Cemetery on April 16, 2002, Pastor Dan Renner officiating. Arrangements are by Burley Funeral Chapel.
