Max H. Taylor died at his home in Oak Harbor on March 10, 2011, at the age of 75. Max was born April 6, 1935 in Lunsford, Ark., to Jewell and Robert Taylor. He joined the Navy at age 17 and was stationed both home and abroad working as an aviation mechanic.
After retiring from the Navy in 1967, Max worked and raised his family in many places including Alaska and Iran, prior to settling on Whidbey Island. He enjoyed many years of friendships through his membership at the VFW and Fleet Reserve Association. Max is survived by his wife Beverly of Oak Harbor, son Dave Nance of Festus, Mo., daughter Andrea Taylor of Kasilof, Alaska, step-daughter Roberta Matta of Carson, Wash., and brother Gilbert Taylor of Sun City, Ariz. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert Taylor Jr.
