A service of remembrance for Mildred Carlson will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 11, at Burley Funeral Chapel, Oak Harbor. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Maple Leaf Cemetery.
Mildred Grace Carlson, 86, died on May 7, 2002, in Oak Harbor following an extended illness. She was born Oct. 31, 1915, to Walter and Elsie Conklin in Yakima. Mrs. Carlson graduated from Mount Baker High School in 1934. She was married in 1934 to John Bylsma in Bellingham. They were married for 22 years. She later married Vern Orlando Carlson in 1972. Mr. Carlson preceded her in death in 1993.
Mildred had a good sense of humor which seemed to get her through her life. She was a very good bowler, receiving numerous pins and trophies. She loved to do embroidery, crossword puzzles and puzzles. Mildred was the oldest of five generations.
She is survived by her daughter, Janet Jennerjohn of Oak Harbor, son, Ted Bylsma of Blaine; five grandchildren, Starrlynn Ann of California, Varyl Kelly of Mount Vernon, Tammy Alexander of Blainen, Tyson Bylsma of Blaine and Greg Bylsma. Twelve great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren also survive.
